Since 2011, ESPN and State Farm have launched the college basketball season with an event featuring four of the nation’s best programs. They wanted to enhance their event identity to match the high-level competition and historic programs. They also wanted to ensure that the identity would be nimble enough for all platforms, and multiple venues and years.

Solution

Our team created the look for the State Farm Champions Classic, aiming for an identity that could be used for three years or more. The look was created to build brand equity in the State Farm Champions Classic, while maintaining its ability to be used in other cities and venues, since the tournament changes locations every year. The bold and impactful pieces tie in inspirations of athletic tags and apparel, while the typeface adds subtle hints of nostalgia and vintage looks.
